World Asthma Day - May 1, 2007

This annual event, on the first Tuesday in May, is to raise awareness about asthma and improve control. Six out of ten people with asthma don’t have their disease under control - that’s more than half of those diagnosed. But this doesn’t have to be the case.

"You Can Control Your Asthma" is the theme of this year’s World Asthma Day®. The Lung Association wants people living with asthma to know that the disease can be controlled and that they can live full and active lives.

If you think your asthma is not under control, call The Lung Association’s Asthma Action Helpline to speak with a Certified Asthma Educator: 1-800-668-7682. For free information and to sign up for our e-newsletter, visit www.on.lung.ca.

For more information on World Asthma Day, visit the Global Intitiative for Asthma (GINA) website.
