Pop star Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, started singing, dancing and playing sports while in grade school on the advice of her doctor. She had asthma and her doctor wanted her to strengthen her lungs. Pink was diagnosed with asthma at only three weeks of age, and her distraught parents rushed her frequently to the hospital. But as she got older, Pink fought to control her asthma and won, turning her singing and dancing asthma "treatments" into a lifelong passion for music, hit pop singles and a star career.

If you enjoy exercising, be sure to warm up gradually. A continuous, progressive warm-up for 15 minutes before vigorous activity will help decrease asthma symptoms.

She also won the Canadian Sprint Championships every year from 1990 to 1995. The Canadian Press voted Susan the Female Athlete of the Year in 1995. She has also had asthma since she was a very young child but obviously learned to manage it properly.

Curt was initially interested in pursuing a hockey career and only biked to stay in shape for hockey. During tryouts for an OHL hockey team, he decided that cycling was his real passion so he took it up full-time. Incredibly, only two years later he was racing at the Los Angeles Olympics.

It was a good decision that led to an amazing, flamboyant, sometimes-controversial career that wasn\'t limited by his asthma.

There were a few times in her career when her asthma got out of control and she had to stop. However, she learned that if she wanted to keep her lungs healthy and compete at a high level, she would have to commit to consistently managing her asthma on a long-term basis. Her medals proved that it can be done and that you can reach your highest goals as long as you learn how to keep your asthma under control.
