This Privacy Policy applies only to The Lung Association's Teen Asthma web site. At The Lung Association, we are committed to protecting the privacy of all site visitors. We also recognize and appreciate the specific concerns that parents may have with regard to information gathered about site visitors, especially youth, by the Teen Asthma web site, or any other web site.
The Lung Association is a member of the Canadian Marketing Association, the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. We adhere to the privacy guidelines of these organizations.
The following provides information on how The Lung Association collects, uses, and safeguards the personal information you provide on this web site.
Information Collection
When you browse the Teen Asthma web site, you do so anonymously.
- Online Polls: Youth and other site users may opt to answer questions featured in our Online Polls. Even by participating in our Online Polls, visitors remain anonymous. When participating in these Online Polls, no personal information such as age or gender is collected.
- E-mails to Us (Send Us Comments): Site users may voluntarily send e-mail messages to our Asthma team. The Lung Association will use the contact information you provide to reply to your query. Your message may also be forwarded to other Lung Association employees who may be better able to assist you. Unless you opt in to receive further communications from Teen Asthma and/or The Lung Association, your contact information is not saved.
Information Use
The Teen Asthma web site does gather different kinds of information from its visitors.
- Personalization: We may request that site users supply us with information, such as a first name or user name: this is merely for personalizing your online experience at the Teen Asthma web site.
- Contact Information: At times, we may request that you voluntarily provide your e-mail address and/or postal address, for purposes such as ordering/downloading resources. However, when at all possible, an option to remain anonymous will be provided to those who wish to remain anonymous.
- Site Usage: The Lung Association uses software to track the number of visits to the Teen Asthma web site and features within it. For example, we record how many people take our online quizzes. Information gathered is generic.
When you supply The Lung Association with your personal information we may use it to:
