Question & Answer

Q: How does my doctor know how many puffs of my inhaler I need every day?

A: A doctor will often give you a certain daily dose of medicine to start with to try to get the asthma under control. If after several weeks your asthma is still not under control, your doctor may increase the dose or add on an additional medicine. However, if you don’t have further symptoms, your doctor might try to reduce the dose. The goal of treating asthma is to find the lowest daily dose that keeps your asthma under control.
